An overview of my creative process
I firmly believe that every single person is an artist.
Simply put, creativity is an innate trait of being a human being. The process of creating art should be a regular part of our lives. Just as exercise and reading keep our bodies and minds sharp, making art nourishes the soul.
I realize that I may sound like some art-loving cult member that is about to give you a spiel of why you should join me. Let me assure you, that is not the goal.
I understand that making artwork is not for everyone. However, it is worth the attempt to create some kind of artwork at least once in your life. You may find that creating a piece of art is therapeutic and a hobby that you love.
Disclaimer so that I don’t get sued: I am not an art therapist or any such licensed professional.
Plenty of folks have told me that they aren’t creative. But, I think it is more of an issue of finding the best way to go about it rather than actually not being able to be creative.
For the aforementioned reasons, I decided to create a series of blog posts to describe my creative process. I invite you to join me as I create an artwork and discuss one way you can go about creating a completely original art piece from scratch--or should I say sketch!
(Sorry for the pun, I couldn’t help myself. Actually, no, I take that back--I’m not sorry. Puns are great; we should use them una-pun-ogetically. And that, my friends, was a good pun just now.)
Anyhoo, where was I? Oh yes!
My goal with this blog series, How-to: abstract self, is to share my creative process in a way that will serve as a guide for how to tap into your own creativity pool.
